Seki, Japan has been a renowned center for knife-making for over 800 years. Our knife is crafted here using high-performance SG2 powder stainless steel, exclusive to Japan. SG2 steel, produced through powder metallurgy, offers a very fine microstructure, enabling further hardening without sacrificing toughness.

Superior Heat Treatment and Hardening

Our knife undergoes a rigorous heat treatment and ice hardening process, resulting in a high 63 Rockwell hardness rating (HRC). This advanced process outperforms VG10, AUS10, and other similar stainless steels, ensuring longer edge retention.

Stainless Clad 3-Layer Construction

A stainless clad 3-layer construction protects the SG2 cutting core, enhancing corrosion resistance. This design ensures durability and longevity, making our knife a worthwhile investment.

Stunning Tsuchime Finishing

The stunning tsuchime ("hammered") blade finish not only looks impressive but also enhances food release, making slicing and cutting a breeze. The hand-sharpened highly polished edge (12 degrees, even double bevel) ensures razor sharpness right out of the box.

Premium Handle Design

The fully contoured handle is made of resin-infused wood fibers, offering both comfort and durability. A stainless steel bolster provides excellent balance. Traditional Japanese aesthetics are highlighted with a Japanese mosaic pin and an embossed Yaxell kanji logo on the end.
