Seki is known as the knife-making capital of Japan, and this set is crafted there using high-performance SG2 powder stainless steel. This exclusive steel, produced using powder metallurgy, results in a very fine microstructure that allows for further hardening without sacrificing toughness.
The knives are heat treated and ice hardened to a high 63 Rockwell hardness rating (HRC), outperforming VG10, AUS10, and other similar stainless steels. The stainless clad 3-layer construction protects the SG2 cutting core and enhances corrosion resistance.
The stunning tsuchime ("hammered") blade finish not only enhances food release but also ensures a razor-sharp edge right out of the box. The hand-sharpened, highly polished edge (12 degrees, even double bevel) guarantees sharpness.
The fully contoured handle, made of resin-infused wood fibers, offers comfort and durability. The stainless steel bolster enhances balance, and it’s adorned with a traditional Japanese mosaic pin and an embossed Yaxell kanji logo. Suitable for both right and left-handed use.
Handcrafted in Seki, Japan, this knife set includes a limited lifetime warranty. The assembled knife set measures 15" long, 12.75" high, and 4.75" wide. Hand wash only to maintain its quality.
